That’s the type of room the Yealink CT300 is built for. It sits behind the user experience as the control processor for professional AV installations. Displays, screens, room equipment and third-party devices can be tied into one control design using serial ports, relay control, GPIO, infrared and IP-based integration. What the CT300 Actually Does in the Room
The CT300 is a room device manager. Not a camera. Not a microphone. Not the touchscreen your staff use to join a Teams meeting. Its job is to connect control commands to equipment that would otherwise operate independently.
Take a 16-seat executive room with 2 commercial displays, an electrically operated projection screen, a third-party lighting interface and Yealink AV equipment. A programmed room state can send serial commands to a display, switch a relay-controlled device and pass instructions to IP-connected equipment from the same control design. Instead of treating each piece as an isolated box, the room can be designed around actions such as meeting start, presentation mode or room shutdown.

6 RS232 Ports, 2 RS422/485 Ports — Why That Matters
Professional AV rooms still contain plenty of equipment that is controlled over serial connections. Commercial displays, projection equipment, processors and building-control interfaces may expose RS232 or RS422/485 even when the rest of the meeting room sits on Ethernet.

The CT300 provides 6 RS232 connections. That gives an integrator several physical serial control paths from one device instead of planning one control processor for every display or room component. The published serial specification also provides configurable baud-rate support for equipment that expects different communication settings.
2 × RS422/485 Interfaces
Two RS422/485 ports cover room equipment that uses differential serial communication. This is useful when the AV design extends beyond normal tabletop meeting hardware into motorised devices, control interfaces or installed equipment that expects RS485 signalling.
For an AV engineer, those numbers are more useful than a vague claim about room automation. Before we specify a CT300 in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, we count the actual controlled endpoints: how many need RS232, how many need relay contact, whether any need GPIO, and which devices are already controllable over IP. That tells us whether the CT300 is justified before the rack is built.
Relay, GPIO and Infrared — For Equipment That Isn’t Controlled Over IP
Not every room device gives you an Ethernet API. Some equipment still expects a dry-contact relay. Some exposes a GPIO input. Others only respond to the same infrared commands supplied by a handheld remote.
The CT300 provides 4 normally open relay outputs rated at up to 30V DC and 2A. Those contacts can be used by an integrator where compatible room equipment accepts relay switching. There are also 4 GPIO connections that can operate as input or output points, depending on how the control system is designed.
IR Learning + 2 IR Outputs
For devices that are still controlled by infrared, the CT300 includes an IR-learning interface and 2 IR output ports. The IR outputs operate across a 34kHz to 42kHz carrier range. Instead of leaving a dedicated handheld remote in the room, supported commands can become part of the programmed room control logic.
This becomes useful in older Dubai fit-outs where the conferencing system is new but the displays, motorised screen or other installed equipment are staying. You don’t necessarily need to replace every working device just to create a central control system. If the existing equipment exposes a supported control interface, it may be brought into the CT300 design.
Dual Network Ports — Keep Management and Device Control Apart
This is one of the CT300 details that matters when the conversation moves from the AV contractor to the IT department. It has 2 network interfaces: 1 PoE network port and 1 additional RJ45 network port. Yealink designed the dual-port arrangement so management traffic and device-control traffic can be separated.
Picture a financial office in DIFC where the corporate network is tightly controlled. The meeting room may contain IP-connected AV devices that IT doesn’t want mixed casually into the same network segment used by staff computers and business systems. A dual-network design gives the project engineer more options when planning how control and management traffic are carried.
The PoE connection also gives the CT300 another power option. A compatible PoE network connection can power the unit, while a 12V/2A DC input is available when the installation design calls for local power. Average power consumption is around 2.5W, with a published peak of 3.3W and standby draw of about 1.7W.
Open API — Bringing Third-Party Devices Into the Control Design
A serious boardroom rarely contains hardware from only one product family. The conferencing system might be Yealink while the displays, lighting interface, projection system or building-control equipment already exist.
The CT300 includes open API support for third-party device integration. That point changes how the product should be specified. You’re not buying 6 RS232 sockets simply because the rack has space. You’re buying a control processor that can sit between different room devices and a programmed user interface.
For glass-partition meeting rooms in JLT or DMCC, the actual integration may be fairly modest: 2 displays, one motorised blind interface and the AV equipment. A divisible hotel ballroom, training centre or large executive suite may need far more control points. Same CT300. Different programming and I/O requirements.
CT300 Inside Yealink AV ONE and SkySound Rooms
Yealink places the CT300 in its AV ONE architecture alongside AVoIP, professional room audio and meeting-room hardware. AV ONE is intended for rooms where cameras, microphones, speakers, processing, control and network-based AV need to operate as one designed system.
That makes the CT300 more relevant as the room gets harder. Divisible spaces. Multi-purpose rooms. Executive rooms with several displays. Training rooms switching between local presentation and video conferencing. A standard 6-person meeting room with one display and one video bar usually doesn’t need this level of control hardware.
The same applies to SkySound projects. A ceiling microphone such as a CM20 or CM50 solves the audio pickup problem; it doesn’t automatically control the projection screen, lighting interface or third-party display. The CT300 occupies the control layer when the finished room needs those separate systems to react to defined commands.

There is an important distinction here: the CT300 itself is not a Teams Rooms or Zoom Rooms endpoint. We don’t list it as a separately certified Teams or Zoom device. It can form part of a larger room design where the conferencing platform runs on other Yealink hardware and the CT300 handles room-device control.

You may not need a CT300
If the room has one display, one video bar and no lighting, projection, relay, serial or third-party control requirement, adding a CT300 creates hardware you probably won’t use. Send us the device list before ordering. For a larger AV ONE or SkySound room with several controlled endpoints, the CT300 makes far more sense because its 6 RS232 ports, 2 RS422/485 ports, 4 relays, 4 GPIO connections and IP integration can be planned into the room from the start.
Control Interface and Touch Panel Deployment
The CT300 does the processing and device control, but users still need a practical interface. In a finished room, that interface can be designed around the actions staff actually need rather than exposing every AV command on one crowded screen.
For example: Start Meeting can switch the displays on, select the required input and prepare the room for conferencing. Presentation can move the room into a local content mode. Room Off can shut down controlled equipment when the meeting ends.
That is usually better than giving a user 20 individual device buttons. The control logic is built around the room workflow, while the CT300 handles the serial, relay, GPIO, IR and network commands behind it.
Device Monitoring — Useful After the Installer Leaves
Room control matters during the meeting. Device visibility matters the other 23 hours of the day.
The CT300 management environment can report whether managed devices are online or offline and present device status through its dashboard. That gives the AV or IT team a quicker way to spot a missing endpoint instead of waiting for somebody in the room to report that something isn’t responding.
Offline Device Alarms
If a controlled device disappears from the network or stops reporting, the room-management view can flag the problem. In a multi-room Dubai office, that gives IT a chance to investigate before the 9AM board meeting starts.
This becomes more valuable as the room count grows. One executive boardroom is easy to inspect manually. Ten conference rooms across 2 floors in Business Bay are different. Visibility reduces the number of problems discovered only after users walk into the room.
PABX and Voice System Compatibility
The CT300 itself is not a SIP phone, PABX extension or voice gateway. It doesn’t register to Etisalat, du, 3CX, Grandstream UCM, Yeastar or Avaya as a telephone endpoint.
In a boardroom that also needs PSTN or SIP calling, that function sits on the conferencing endpoint or room system. The CT300 can still be part of the same installation, but its role remains room-device control.
That distinction matters when specifying a UAE meeting room. If the requirement is simply “the room needs to call external phone numbers,” the CT300 isn’t the product that provides that capability. It becomes relevant when the room also needs displays, screens, lighting interfaces or third-party AV devices tied into one control workflow.

Where the CT300 Fits Best
The CT300 is particularly useful in rooms where multiple systems need to behave like one room. Executive boardrooms are the obvious example, but training facilities and divisible spaces are often a better demonstration of why the control processor exists.
A training room may switch between video conferencing, local HDMI presentation and instructor-led projection several times in one day. A divisible room may operate as one large space in the morning and two smaller rooms after lunch. The equipment hasn’t changed. The required room state has.
That is where central control earns its place. Instead of asking staff to understand every device, the control system sends the required commands for the selected room mode.

Is the CT300 the touchscreen we use to join a Teams meeting?
No. The CT300 is the room-control processor, not the normal meeting join console. It connects to room equipment through IP, RS232, RS422/485, relay, GPIO and infrared interfaces. The user-facing control surface is planned separately as part of the room design.
Can the CT300 control equipment from other brands?
Yes, where that equipment exposes a supported control method. The CT300 provides open API integration plus 6 RS232 ports, 2 RS422/485 ports, 4 relays, 4 GPIO connections and infrared control. We verify the control interface of each third-party device before specifying it.
Will the CT300 work with our Etisalat, du or existing PABX system?
The CT300 isn’t a SIP or PABX endpoint, so it doesn’t register directly to Etisalat, du, 3CX or a PBX. Voice calling is handled by the conferencing endpoint in the room. The CT300 controls the wider AV environment around that endpoint.
Do we need a CT300 for a normal 6-person meeting room?
