Windows Hello — Separate Infrared Camera Built In

The Desktop version includes an infrared camera for Microsoft Windows Hello facial login. That is separate from the main 8.51MP video sensor. Sit down at a compatible Windows PC, and Windows Hello can use the camera for face authentication instead of asking for a password every time.

For shared executive desks, finance teams, reception systems and management offices, this is more useful than it sounds. The camera isn’t only being used during a Teams or Zoom call. It can also become part of the normal Windows sign-in process during the working day.

Yealink specifies a working depth of 0.5 to 3 metres for the UVC30 Desktop. Read that number literally. This is a desk camera, personal-office camera and close-range shared-workspace camera. It is not designed to sit under a 75-inch display and cover a 10-seat conference table.

4K30, Auto Framing and WDR — What the Camera Actually Does

The main camera uses an 8.51MP, 1/2.5-inch CMOS sensor and supports up to 4K at 30 frames per second. It also supports 1080p30 and 720p30. For normal office video calls, 1080p is often what the application sends, but the higher sensor resolution gives the camera more image data to work with for framing and digital zoom.

Electronic pan and tilt let the image be repositioned without physically turning the camera, while 3× digital zoom helps tighten the frame. Face-detection Auto Framing can adjust around the people in view rather than leaving a large empty border around one person.

Wide Dynamic Range helps in the sort of lighting problem we see constantly in Dubai offices: bright daylight through the window behind the desk, strong ceiling LEDs above, and a face sitting somewhere in between. The camera has more room to balance those areas than a basic laptop webcam that turns the window white and the person in front of it dark.

Built-In Audio — Useful for a Desk, Not a Long Table

Two microphones are built into the UVC30 Desktop. For one person working directly in front of the screen, that can reduce the number of separate USB devices connected to the PC. Camera, microphones and Windows Hello can all sit at the monitor position.

For a noisier DMCC or JLT office with constant HVAC noise, nearby conversations or several people around a table, use a dedicated headset or conference audio device instead. A camera microphone sitting above a monitor has a different job from a tabletop speakerphone placed in the middle of a meeting. USB Setup, BYOD and Screen Sharing — Keep the Roles Clear

The UVC30 Desktop connects to a computer as a USB camera. Your laptop or desktop runs the meeting application; the UVC30 supplies the camera and its 2 built-in microphones. There is no separate room operating system, touch controller or meeting-room account inside the camera.

That makes it useful for BYOD-style working at a personal desk. A consultant visiting a DMCC office can connect the camera to a Windows laptop and open the meeting application already installed on that machine. A manager working between Teams calls and Zoom calls doesn’t need to change a room mode. The application changes. The USB camera stays where it is.

Screen sharing is handled by the meeting application or by a separate presentation device — not by the UVC30 itself. Does the UVC30 Connect to an Etisalat or du PABX?

No. The UVC30 Desktop is not a SIP telephone and doesn’t register directly to a PBX, Etisalat business voice service or du SIP account. It is a USB camera connected to a computer.

If your Windows PC runs a softphone registered to 3CX, Grandstream UCM, Yeastar, Avaya or another office phone platform, the software may use the UVC30 for video while the call itself remains controlled by the computer.
