By the time you reach the managing director at the far end, a normal wide-angle camera has turned a face into a few pixels. If somebody stands up to present beside the display, the camera has another problem — follow the presenter or keep the rest of the room in view.

Visitors Still Bring Teams, Webex and Their Own Laptops

A Zoom-first boardroom does not mean every external meeting arrives on Zoom. Consultants bring Teams invitations. Vendors send Webex links. A client may insist on joining from a browser on their own managed laptop. That is where BYOD planning matters.

The ZVC S80-C5U can be paired with the VCH51 Pro BYOD interface. A user connects a laptop by USB-C and the room camera, microphone and speaker system become available to that laptop. The meeting runs from the visitor’s computer while the SmartVision 80 remains the room camera.

VCH51 Pro can also handle content sharing at up to 4K at 60 frames per second. That is useful when the room is used for CAD reviews, financial dashboards or training material where text clarity matters on a large display. One cable. No hunting through a drawer for separate HDMI and USB leads.

Audio Design Matters More as the Table Gets Longer

SmartVision 80 has a built-in 4-microphone array for camera-side voice detection and tracking, but a large room should not be designed around the camera microphones alone. A 12-to-20-seat boardroom normally needs the audio layout planned around table length, ceiling height, HVAC level and where people actually sit.

This is especially true in Dubai. High-output ceiling AC can sit directly above the middle of the table. Glass walls add reflections. Hard flooring makes chair movement more obvious to remote participants. A room that looks impressive can still sound poor if somebody simply installs a camera and assumes the job is finished.

For engineered spaces, the S80 architecture can be combined with Yealink room-audio components including ceiling microphones and ceiling loudspeakers. The exact layout depends on the room. Long rectangular tables, divisible meeting rooms and training spaces need different microphone positions.

Can the ZVC S80 Connect to an Office PABX?

Treat the ZVC S80 primarily as a Zoom Rooms system, not as an office desk-phone replacement. Its job is to run scheduled Zoom meetings with dedicated room hardware. Standard company phone calls still sit on the office telephony side.

If your Dubai office uses Etisalat/e& or du SIP services with a Grandstream UCM, Yeastar, 3CX, Avaya or another IP PABX, we keep that telephony service separate and connect the meeting room according to the actual workflow. Some clients want a room phone beside the controller. Others route dial-in audio through Zoom. Different setup.

Where the S80 Makes Sense in Dubai

Executive boardrooms are the obvious fit, but not the only one. Training rooms are another strong case because the presenter can move well beyond the first few metres in front of the display. Presenter Tracking with up to 20 metres of reach gives the camera enough distance to keep that person useful on the remote side.

Legal and financial firms in DIFC often have long narrow meeting rooms with one display wall and glass partitions running down both sides. In that layout, the 20x PTZ handles depth while Video Fence helps stop movement in the corridor from affecting framing. Different problem from a square meeting room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ZVC S80 too much for a normal 8-person meeting room?

Usually, yes. The main reason to choose the ZVC S80 is room depth and the SmartVision 80’s 20x optical reach. If eight people sit around a short table only 3 or 4 metres from the display, a smaller Zoom Rooms kit is normally the more sensible choice.

Will the camera still see the person at the far end of a long boardroom table?

That is one of the S80’s main use cases. SmartVision 80 combines panoramic, telephoto and PTZ views, with 20x optical zoom on the PTZ camera. Presenter Tracking is designed for distances of up to 20 metres, so the system is much better suited to deep rooms than a compact wide-angle bar.

Our company uses Zoom, but visitors send Teams invitations. Can they still use the room?

Yes, when the room is configured with the VCH51 Pro BYOD interface. A visitor connects a laptop by USB-C and runs Teams, Webex or another meeting app from that laptop while using the room camera and audio hardware.

Does the ZVC S80 connect directly to our Etisalat/e& or du office phone system?

The ZVC S80 should be treated as a Zoom Rooms system rather than a normal SIP desk-phone endpoint. If your office uses an Etisalat/e& or du SIP service with 3CX, Grandstream, Yeastar or Avaya, we plan the room telephony separately and test it alongside the Zoom installation.

Can you install the ZVC S80 in Abu Dhabi as well as Dubai?
