Start With the Room — Is the UVC40 E2 the Right Size?
Yealink positions the UVC40 E2 for small and huddle meeting rooms. That’s an important distinction. This isn’t a camera for a 16-seat executive boardroom where people are spread along a long table and need separate ceiling microphones. It’s for the compact room where everyone sits reasonably close to one screen and one camera position.
The 120° camera view helps when the table starts close to the screen. A conventional narrow camera can miss the people sitting nearest the left and right edges. Here, the wider image is useful in those Dubai offices where a meeting room has been built into a narrow glass box and there isn’t much distance between camera and first row of chairs.

What the E2 Changes in Daily Use
Don’t confuse this page with the older UVC40. The UVC40 E2 uses Yealink’s current 4K imaging system with a 120° field of view and Smart Area Exposure. That’s the version being discussed here. Old UVC40 camera numbers shouldn’t be copied onto an E2 quotation or project specification.
The design is deliberately simple from the user’s side. Camera at the front. 8 microphones in the bar. Speaker built in. USB connection to the host computer. That arrangement makes sense for meeting rooms where different people bring different laptops during the week, or where the company already has a Windows room PC and doesn’t want another operating system sitting between the user and the meeting application.
120° Camera View for Tight Rooms
Small meeting rooms often force the camera close to the table. The UVC40 E2’s 120° field of view gives it more room to capture participants sitting near both sides without asking everyone to move their chairs toward the centre. Useful when the walls are fixed glass and there simply isn’t another metre available behind the camera.
Smart Area Exposure
Dubai meeting rooms regularly mix bright window light with darker faces around the table. Smart Area Exposure uses image processing to adjust the relevant part of the picture rather than treating the entire frame as one lighting condition. The point isn’t a brighter room. It’s keeping faces usable when the window, display and people are all giving the camera different exposure levels.
Electric Privacy Lens Cap
The camera includes an electric lens cap that physically covers the lens. In a DIFC legal office, finance meeting room or management space, that physical barrier is easy to understand: covered means covered. Staff don’t have to guess whether a software camera icon has actually disabled the lens.
Auto Framing and Speaker Tracking — Less Camera Tapping Mid-Call
Auto Framing reacts to the people in the room and adjusts the picture around the group. Four people arrive for a meeting instead of the expected six? The image can frame the people who are actually sitting there instead of leaving half the picture filled with empty chairs.
Speaker Tracking takes a different job. When somebody starts speaking, the camera system can bring attention toward that speaker. Yealink combines this with sound localisation, so the system has audio information about where the active voice is coming from rather than treating camera movement as an isolated video function.
For a short internal meeting this may sound minor. Over eight or ten calls in a day, it matters. Nobody is reaching for a remote because the finance manager moved to the whiteboard. Nobody has to keep a laptop camera pointed manually at whichever side of the table is talking. The room does more of that adjustment on its own.
Audio: 8 MEMS Microphones, Beamforming and Full-Duplex Conversation
The front of the bar contains an 8-MEMS microphone array. Yealink pairs that hardware with beamforming, acoustic processing, noise reduction and echo cancellation. The useful part is what happens when two sides of the call talk at the same time: the UVC40 E2 supports full-duplex conversation rather than forcing the room into the stop-start rhythm you get when weaker speakerphone systems suppress one direction of speech.
That’s particularly useful in UAE meeting rooms where HVAC stays on throughout most of the working day. Air-conditioning hum doesn’t magically disappear because the room has a video bar. The microphone system still has to separate speech from the constant background level while also controlling echo from the room speaker.
If the room layout grows beyond what the built-in array can handle comfortably, Yealink supports both wired and wireless microphone expansion. The VCM35 wired microphone provides a 5-metre, 360° pickup specification, while the VCM36-W wireless microphone provides a 6-metre, 360° pickup specification and avoids a microphone cable running across the table. Those are expansion options, not items to assume are inside the UVC40 E2 box.
USB Architecture — The Computer Runs the Meeting
This is where buyers need a clear explanation. The UVC40 E2 is a standard UAC/UVC USB device. In plain terms: the video bar supplies the camera and audio hardware, while the connected computer supplies the meeting application.
So if your staff open Microsoft Teams on a laptop, Teams uses the UVC40 E2 as the room camera, microphones and speaker. The same principle applies when the computer is running Zoom or another compatible conferencing application. The bar isn’t pretending to be a complete room operating system. A client walks into your JLT meeting room with Zoom on a laptop. The next meeting is an internal Teams call. An hour later somebody joins a Webex session. That mixed-platform day is exactly where a USB video bar makes sense. The laptop runs the meeting application; the UVC40 E2 becomes the camera, microphone array and speaker for the whole room.
Because the UVC40 E2 works as a standard UAC/UVC device, there isn’t a second meeting-room operating system for the user to learn. Select the Yealink camera and audio devices in the meeting application and start the call. For companies with managed Windows room PCs, the same principle applies — leave the PC permanently connected and staff use the application already approved by IT.
For a more fixed wired BYOD setup, Yealink also lists the BYOD-Box as a related accessory for the UVC40 E2. PABX and Etisalat / du Calling — Where the UVC40 E2 Fits
The UVC40 E2 itself is not a SIP desk phone and it doesn’t register directly as a PABX extension. The connected computer handles that part. If the room PC runs a 3CX softphone, a SIP client, Microsoft Teams Phone or another approved communications application, the UVC40 E2 can provide the USB microphone, speaker and camera used by that software.
The same distinction applies to Etisalat/e& and du business voice services. Your PABX, SIP application or cloud calling client handles the telephone service. The video bar handles what people in the room see and hear. Keeping those two jobs separate avoids buying a USB camera bar expecting it to behave like a telephone endpoint.

Adding Microphones to a Longer Table
One useful difference with the UVC40 E2 is that you aren’t permanently locked to the microphones inside the bar. Yealink supports both wired and wireless expansion microphone options. So a room that starts as a compact six-person space can be adjusted if the table layout changes later.
The VCM35 wired expansion microphone has a 360° pickup pattern with a stated 5-metre voice pickup range. Put it near the centre of the table where voices at the far end would otherwise be asking too much of the front-of-room bar.
Where a cable across the table isn’t acceptable, the VCM36-W wireless microphone gives a stated 6-metre, 360° pickup range. That’s useful in executive rooms with stone tables, finished floors or glass furniture where drilling and visible cable routes aren’t wanted. The wireless mic also gives up to 12 hours of use and up to 7 days of standby, according to Yealink’s current specification.

A USB bar is easy to plug in. Getting the room right still takes more than plugging in a cable. Camera height changes the picture. A display mounted too high gives remote participants a view down onto people’s heads. Put the bar too low and laptops, water bottles and the front row of chairs start blocking faces.
Check the room — Confirm table position, display size, camera height, USB route, power and network point. Glass partitions and direct window light are checked before mounting.
Mount and connect — Install the bar, conceal the available cable route, connect the host PC or BYOD arrangement and place any expansion microphone where the table actually needs it.
Make a live test call — Check edge seats inside the 120° image, listen from the far end of the table, test Auto Framing and Speaker Tracking, then confirm that the required meeting application sees the UVC40 E2 correctly.
