Twelve people around a long boardroom table. The managing director is at one end, the finance team is six seats away, and somebody gets up halfway through the meeting to present beside the screen. A fixed webcam can see the room. It can’t properly work the room. Once the table gets long, you need optical zoom, physical pan and tilt, and microphones placed where people actually sit.
That’s where the current Yealink MVC860 III Gen makes sense. This is a Microsoft Teams Rooms system built around separate room components rather than one video bar: the UVC86 dual-eye 4K PTZ camera handles the picture, MCore4 runs the room, and the MTouch Plus puts Teams controls on the table. Audio can then be selected around the size and shape of the boardroom instead of forcing every project into one microphone layout.
For a DIFC boardroom with a long rectangular table, that may mean wired tabletop microphones. In a DMCC executive room where nobody wants cables visible across the furniture, wireless or ceiling audio may be the cleaner design. U-shaped training space? Different layout again. The MVC860 is useful because those decisions stay open until the room is surveyed.

Which Room Should Use the MVC860?
Start with the table, not the model number. Yealink’s large-room layouts place the MVC860 in the roughly 12-to-20-person range. That’s a useful starting point for Dubai boardrooms where seats run well beyond the practical reach of an all-in-one bar and the camera has to pull a clear close-up from the far end of the room.

Seat count isn’t the whole calculation. A 14-seat room with a short wide table is different from a narrow 14-seat boardroom stretching eight metres away from the camera. Glass walls, ceiling height, speaker position and HVAC noise matter as well. That’s why we survey the room before specifying the microphone and loudspeaker arrangement.
Current III-Generation MVC860 — Check the C5U Package
There is one purchasing detail worth checking before anything else. The current package is MVC860-C5U-000 with MCore4. Older MVC860-C5 packages used MCore Pro. They share the MVC860 name, which means an old quotation and a current quotation can look similar until you read the complete SKU.
MCore4 moves the compute side to an Intel Core Ultra 5 platform with an integrated NPU. It also includes room-focused hardware functions such as built-in EDID handling, CEC support and an IP connection to the touch console. For an IT department standardising several Teams Rooms across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the important point is simple: make sure the quotation says C5U/MCore4 rather than assuming every MVC860 listing describes the current package.
Before approving the PO
Ask for the complete MVC860 package code. For the current III-generation configuration, look for MVC860-C5U-000 with MCore4. Don’t compare a current C5U quote directly with an older C5/MCore Pro listing just because both say “MVC860” in the heading.
Why the UVC86 Uses Two Camera Views
The camera is the reason the MVC860 can deal with a long room. The UVC86 combines a panoramic camera with a motorised PTZ camera. The panoramic side sees the room and helps identify where people are. The PTZ side then uses physical pan, tilt and optical zoom to frame the view the remote side needs.
The PTZ camera uses an 8MP Sony sensor, 90° diagonal and 81° horizontal field of view, with 12× optical zoom plus 1.7× digital zoom for 20.4× HD zoom. Mechanical movement covers ±100° pan with tilt from +40° to -90°. Up to 9 camera presets can be stored. That’s useful in a boardroom where one preset points at the table, another at a presentation wall and another at a lectern.
The panoramic camera uses its own 8MP Sony sensor with a much wider 120° diagonal and 110° horizontal view. Instead of asking one lens to be both very wide and very close, the system has a wide reference view and a separate PTZ camera capable of reaching into the room.
Speaker Tracking
When the active speaker changes, the camera can move the close-up accordingly rather than leaving the remote side staring at a permanent wide shot. On a 16-seat DIFC boardroom table, that makes a bigger difference than simply increasing camera resolution.
Presenter Tracking
For training and presentation rooms, Presenter Tracking follows a person moving through a defined presentation area. Wide-area, stage and segment tracking modes give the camera a better idea of where it should follow and where it should stop. Useful when the presenter leaves the table and walks beside a screen.
Multi-Focus and Picture-in-Picture
A large meeting isn’t always one person talking for ten minutes. Multi-Focus can give remote attendees a closer view of several people involved in the discussion, while Picture-in-Picture keeps useful room context alongside the closer camera view.
Audio Is Chosen Around the Room
This isn’t a camera kit where the microphone is an afterthought. MVC860 supports different Yealink room-audio designs, including VCM35 wired tabletop microphones, VCM36-W wireless microphones and CM20 ceiling microphones. Ceiling loudspeaker layouts can use CS10 units. Third-party DSP integration is also possible where the room already has installed AV audio.
That choice matters in Dubai. A glass-partition meeting room in JLT may have hard reflections and very little soft furnishing. Another room may have a heavy carpet, acoustic ceiling and a twelve-metre table. A single pickup number doesn’t describe both rooms properly. We choose microphone count and position after looking at seating positions, ceiling construction and where the AC diffusers sit.

MTouch Plus — Control From Where People Actually Sit
The MTouch Plus uses an 11.6-inch anti-glare, anti-fingerprint IPS screen at 1920 × 1080. It supports 10-point touch and can sit flat, fix to the desktop or mount on a wall. The screen angle can be adjusted from 30° to 70°, so it doesn’t need to sit upright like a small monitor in the middle of the table.
The useful large-room detail is multi-panel control. More than one control position can be used in the same room, so a person six metres from the main panel doesn’t have to walk to the head of the table to manage the meeting. With MTouch Plus-EXT, a deployment can extend to as many as four additional 11.6-inch control panels around the room.

MVC860 is a native Microsoft Teams Rooms system. Staff don’t need to bring a laptop just to start the scheduled Teams call. The room account, calendar and meeting controls live on the room system, with MTouch Plus used to join and manage the meeting from the table.
This is the right lane for organisations standardising meeting rooms around Microsoft Teams. Not the right fit?
Don’t buy the MVC860 just because the room has a large TV. For a 4-to-8-seat room, a separate 12× PTZ camera and distributed audio system is usually more hardware than the space needs. At the other extreme, a 20-to-30-seat U-shaped room can use MVC860 architecture, but only with the camera, microphone and speaker layout designed for that room. BYOD and Content Sharing — When the Visitor Isn’t on Your Teams Tenant
Your room may run Microsoft Teams every day, then a client walks in with a laptop and a meeting link that doesn’t belong to your tenant. The MVC860 can handle that without turning the boardroom back into a webcam-and-USB-cable project. Yealink supports BYOD and content sharing through the WPP30 wireless presentation pod as well as supported third-party sharing methods.
With WPP30, a user connects the presentation pod to the laptop and can share content without running a permanent HDMI cable down the centre of a six-metre table. Supported sharing reaches up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. Fine for PowerPoint, Excel, dashboards, drawings and browser demonstrations. For a Dubai boardroom where visitors arrive from different companies every week, that matters more than another cable hidden under the table.
If wireless presentation is part of the room brief, add the Yealink wireless presentation and BYOD hardware to the quotation from the start. Don’t discover after handover that the room was designed for one-touch Teams meetings but nobody specified how outside laptops would present.
PABX and Etisalat / du Calling — How It Actually Connects
The MVC860 isn’t a SIP desk phone. You don’t enter a 3CX extension, Grandstream UCM account or an Etisalat/e& SIP username directly into the UVC86 or MTouch Plus. The room signs into Microsoft Teams Rooms. If the business needs the boardroom to make and receive normal telephone calls, that calling is designed through Microsoft Teams Phone.
For organisations keeping an existing UAE telephone carrier or PBX, Direct Routing is the usual integration route where appropriate. A certified Session Border Controller connects the Teams tenant to the required PSTN or existing telephony environment. The room then uses the Teams calling environment rather than registering directly to the PBX.
Operator Connect is another Microsoft Teams Phone method where a supported operator and country combination is available. Exact Etisalat/e& or du design depends on the customer’s Microsoft tenant, licences, numbers and carrier service. We check that before promising PSTN dialling from the meeting room.
Already running 3CX, Avaya or Grandstream UCM?
Keep the distinction clear. MVC860 doesn’t become a native extension on those systems simply because the office has SIP trunks. If telephone calling must reach the Teams Room, we first map the existing PBX, carrier and Microsoft Teams Phone setup, then specify the SBC or Teams voice route required.
What’s in the Current MVC860-C5U Order?
For the current III-generation order, the part number to watch is MVC860-C5U-000. The core room architecture combines the UVC86 camera, MCore4 room computer and MTouch Plus control panel. Power supplies, mounting hardware and connection cables required for those core devices form part of the supplied system according to the final regional pack.
Audio needs more attention. MVC860 can be designed with VCM35 tabletop microphones, VCM36-W wireless microphones, CM20 ceiling microphones and room speaker options. A project using ceiling audio will obviously have a different bill of materials from one using tabletop microphones. Same MVC860 camera and room compute. Different room design.
Because several MVC860 bundle codes have existed, we put the complete SKU and accessory list on the quotation. That prevents a purchasing team from comparing two lines called “MVC860” when one includes a different audio package, sensor or switching hardware.

Room displays, display wall mounts, WPP30 wireless presentation pod, additional MTouch Plus control points, extra microphones, ceiling speakers, third-party DSP equipment, network switching, structured cabling and Teams Phone/SBC services. RoomSensor — Useful Data Beyond “Someone Walked In”
The optional RoomSensor is useful in offices where meeting rooms are booked harder than they’re used. It can report occupancy plus temperature, humidity and ambient light. BLE 5.2 communication reaches up to 30 metres under suitable conditions, and larger deployments can use multiple sensors.
That gives facilities and IT teams more than a motion trigger. A DMCC office can see that a room booked for 90 minutes is physically empty. Another room may be occupied all afternoon while the temperature climbs because the HVAC zone isn’t keeping up. For multi-room floors, those signals are far more useful than waiting for staff to open tickets saying “the boardroom feels hot again.”
Managing MVC860 Rooms Across More Than One Office
One room is easy to check by walking upstairs. Twenty rooms across Dubai and Abu Dhabi are different. The MVC860 sits inside the Microsoft Teams Rooms management model, giving IT teams central visibility instead of treating each boardroom as an isolated AV installation.
The current MCore4 platform also supports Windows Autopilot. For companies deploying several rooms, that reduces the amount of manual Windows provisioning required on each room computer. Standard naming, policies and account planning can be prepared before engineers arrive at every site.
Yealink management tools can also be used as part of the device-management layer where applicable. A Boardroom Installation Isn’t Just Unboxing the Kit
For an MVC860 room, camera height changes the shot. Microphone position changes how the far end hears the room. A badly placed ceiling speaker can throw sound straight onto a glass wall. Network and display control matter too. The installation is included because these things need to be tested together.

Room survey — Measure table length, camera distance, display position, ceiling height, glass surfaces, speaker locations, cable path and network points.

Live room test — Test near and far seats, camera tracking, presentation positions, content sharing and audio while the HVAC is running. A silent empty room at 7PM isn’t a useful acoustic test.

Where MVC860 Makes Sense in UAE Projects
Executive boardrooms are the obvious case, but not the only one. A legal practice in DIFC may need the PTZ camera to move between a 16-person table and a presentation screen. A construction company can use Presenter Tracking in a project-review room where someone spends half the meeting standing beside drawings. Training rooms benefit from camera presets when the layout switches between instructor, seating area and front display.
The same logic applies in Abu Dhabi. Government meeting rooms, corporate headquarters and energy-sector offices often have longer tables and stricter room standards than a normal eight-seat meeting space. That’s where separate camera, compute, controller and audio components make more sense than stretching a small-room video bar into a job it wasn’t designed to do.

Is the MVC860 too much for an 8-person meeting room?
Usually, yes. The MVC860 is aimed at medium and large rooms, with common large-room designs around 12 to 20 seats. An 8-person room may be better served by a smaller Teams Rooms configuration unless the room is unusually long or needs a PTZ camera for presentations. Can we use ceiling microphones instead of putting microphones on our boardroom table?
Yes. MVC860 room designs can use Yealink ceiling-audio components as well as wired or wireless tabletop microphones. Ceiling height, table shape, HVAC positions and room acoustics need checking first. Glass-heavy Dubai boardrooms are especially sensitive to microphone and speaker placement.
Will MVC860 connect directly to our Etisalat, du, 3CX or Grandstream PABX?
Not as a normal SIP extension. MVC860 is a Microsoft Teams Room. PSTN calling is handled through the Microsoft Teams Phone architecture, using the suitable carrier connectivity method such as Direct Routing or Operator Connect where supported. If you already have a PBX or UAE SIP service, we check that telephony design separately.
Can a visitor present from a laptop without signing into our Teams account?
Yes. WPP30 supports wireless presentation and BYOD workflows, with supported sharing up to 1080p at 30fps. It’s useful for client meetings where the visitor only needs to present from their own laptop and shouldn’t be given access to the room account.
