The current MVC840-C5-000 combines the UVC84 4K PTZ camera, MCore Pro room computer, MTouch Plus touch console and RoomSensor. Audio is selected around the table shape and room acoustics. That matters in Dubai, because a 16-person rectangular boardroom in DIFC needs a different microphone layout from a 24-seat U-shaped training room in Abu Dhabi.

First Question: What Size Room Is the MVC840 For?

Yealink’s own current room designs place the MVC840-C5 platform in large Teams Rooms rather than small meeting spaces. A conventional rectangular room can be designed around roughly 12 to 20 participants. A larger U-shaped room can go to around 20 to 30 seats when the microphone and speaker layout is built for that room.

Why the III-Generation MVC840 Is Different

The name MVC840 has existed before, which is where buyers need to be careful. The current III-generation system is the C5 platform. It should not be quoted from an old bill of materials that lists the earlier MCore, MTouch II and fixed microphone package.

The current kit centres on MCore Pro and MTouch Plus. MCore Pro is the Windows room computer running Microsoft Teams Rooms. MTouch Plus sits on the table as the meeting controller: room calendar, join button, participant controls, camera control and meeting functions without somebody opening a laptop.

RoomSensor adds presence detection to the room setup. Staff walk into a Teams room and the system can respond to occupancy rather than behaving like a normal PC that happens to be connected to a large screen. For shared meeting rooms in DMCC or DIFC where one space may host eight or ten bookings through a working day, that small detail matters.

UVC84: 12× Optical Zoom Is the Reason This Camera Belongs in a Deep Room

A wide-angle camera works when everybody is close to the display. A long executive room creates a different problem. If the camera only has digital zoom, enlarging the far end means enlarging pixels as well. Faces get soft exactly where you need more detail.

The UVC84 uses 12× optical zoom. The lens changes focal length physically before the image reaches the sensor, so the camera can frame people farther into the room without relying on digital enlargement alone. That is why the MVC840 is a sensible choice for a long table, classroom layout or executive boardroom where the last row cannot sit 2 metres from the display.

The camera also provides motorised pan and tilt. Instead of mounting one fixed lens and hoping the whole room stays inside one angle, the UVC84 can reframe different seating areas. Useful when the same room switches between a normal board meeting on Monday and a presentation layout on Wednesday.

In glass-heavy offices around JLT and Business Bay, camera placement still needs thought. A 12× lens does not fix poor mounting height, backlighting from a window, or a camera installed two metres off the room centreline. During installation we position the camera against the actual seating geometry and run a live Teams test before handover.

IntelliFocus and Multi-Stream IntelliFrame

Large rooms create a visibility problem even when the camera image itself is sharp. Put 18 people into one wide frame and every face becomes small on a remote participant’s laptop. The III-generation MVC platform addresses that with intelligent framing modes designed around active speakers.

IntelliFocus can present closer views of active speakers instead of leaving the far side looking at one static room-wide shot. When the discussion moves from the project manager at one end of the table to finance at the other end, the camera experience follows the meeting rather than forcing remote participants to work out who is talking.

Multi-Stream IntelliFrame can create individual video feeds for up to 4 active in-room speakers alongside the wider room view. This is especially relevant to hybrid meetings where three people in Dubai are debating with a fourth colleague while the remote side is joining individually from London, Riyadh or Abu Dhabi. The people in the physical room get a closer on-screen presence rather than becoming four tiny faces inside one camera tile.

Audio Is Chosen for the Room — Not Forced by the Kit

This is one of the most important differences to understand before ordering the MVC840 III Generation. The current C5 core isn’t a fixed old-style bundle where one microphone arrangement has to suit every room.

For a normal 12-to-20-seat rectangular boardroom, a design can use tabletop microphones positioned down the table with separate room speakers. That keeps microphone pickup close to the people speaking and makes servicing simple.

A boardroom with expensive stone or timber tables may be different. Nobody wants holes cut for microphone cables, and nobody wants loose cabling running beside water bottles and laptop chargers. That room can be designed with ceiling microphones instead. The same applies to a 20-to-30-seat U-shaped training room where two tabletop units would leave obvious coverage gaps.

HVAC matters too. Dubai meeting rooms can have strong ceiling airflow for most of the year. A ceiling microphone mounted directly beside an air-conditioning diffuser is asking for trouble. Microsoft Teams Rooms — Native Windows Room System

The MVC840 III Generation is a native Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows system. The room has its own Teams Rooms account and stays ready for meetings independent of any user’s laptop. Scheduled meetings appear on MTouch Plus. Tap once and the room joins with its fixed camera, audio and displays.

For companies standardising Microsoft Teams rooms across several UAE offices, the advantage is consistency. A room in Dubai and another in Abu Dhabi can present the same meeting controls to staff even if the physical room sizes differ. The MVC840 handles the larger-room end of that rollout, while smaller spaces can remain within the Yealink Microsoft Teams room range.

Laptop Meetings, Guest Calls and Content Sharing

A room may be built around Microsoft Teams, but visitors don’t always arrive with a Teams meeting. A consultant may send a Zoom link. A customer may use Webex. Another person simply wants to put a 30-slide presentation on the boardroom display without signing into the room account.

That needs to be planned when the MVC840 is installed. The fixed Teams Rooms system remains the normal day-to-day meeting method, while laptop content and guest-platform workflows can be added around it. Existing PABX, Etisalat or du — How Calling Actually Works

The MVC840 III Generation isn’t a SIP desk phone. You don’t take the IP address of the room system and register it directly as extension 205 on a Grandstream UCM, 3CX or Yeastar PBX. That is the wrong design for a Microsoft Teams Rooms system.

If the boardroom needs to dial normal telephone numbers, the voice path is built through Microsoft Teams Phone. UAE organisations can keep an existing carrier or telephony infrastructure and connect it to Teams through a supported calling architecture. Direct Routing is the usual route where an existing PBX, SBC or carrier trunk needs to stay in the design. Operator-based Teams connectivity may also be used where the required service is available for the tenant and location.

For Etisalat/e& or du projects, we check the existing voice service, Teams licensing, number-routing requirement and SBC design before saying the meeting room can dial the PSTN. No guesswork. A company with 3CX and a du SIP trunk needs a different voice plan from a new office that has no PBX at all.

A 20-Seat Boardroom Is an Audio Project as Much as a Camera Project

The UVC84 solves the visual distance problem. Microphones solve a different one. Put 20 people around a long polished table and the furthest participant may be several metres from the nearest microphone position. Add an HVAC diffuser directly over the centre seats and glass on three walls, and microphone placement matters more than the camera spec.

A conventional room can use distributed tabletop microphones. An executive room where the table needs to stay completely clear can move audio into the ceiling. This is also why seat count alone doesn’t decide the bill of materials. Two rooms can both seat 18 people. One is 7 metres long with a low acoustic ceiling. The other is 11 metres deep, has a presenter zone and a hard stone floor. Same headcount. Different audio design.

Usually, yes. The MVC840 makes more sense when a room has roughly 12 to 20 seats, substantial depth or a requirement for separate room audio. An 8-person room will normally be better served by a smaller MVC system or MeetingBar. Send the room dimensions before ordering and we can map it properly.

Can we use the MVC840 in a 25-person training room?

It can be designed for larger layouts around 20 to 30 seats, but the audio must be planned for the room. A U-shaped training room usually needs distributed microphones and speakers rather than treating one tabletop microphone as if it can cover every seat.

Will it work with our Etisalat/e&, du, 3CX or existing PBX?

The MVC840 doesn’t register directly as a normal SIP PBX extension. Telephone calling is handled through Microsoft Teams Phone. Existing carrier trunks or PBX infrastructure can be retained through an appropriate Teams voice design, commonly using Direct Routing and a certified SBC. We check the existing system before including PSTN calling in the room scope.

Our company uses Teams, but clients send Zoom and Webex links. Is that a problem?

The room is built first as a Microsoft Teams Rooms system. Guest-platform and laptop workflows can then be planned around it, including laptop sharing and optional wireless presentation hardware. Tell us how often outside platforms are used before the quotation so the required sharing accessories are included from day one.
