Twelve people around a long boardroom table. The managing director is sitting near the display and looks perfectly clear. The finance director is 7 metres away at the opposite end and appears as a small face in the background. Then somebody stands beside the screen to present, the camera changes direction, and the people at the far end disappear again. That’s where a normal meeting-room bar starts running out of room.
The MVC S80 is built differently. Instead of asking one fixed camera to cover an entire large room, it uses the SmartVision 80 multi-camera system with a dedicated PTZ camera and 20x optical zoom. Pair that with the Windows-based MCore 4 and the 11.6-inch MTouch Plus controller, and you’ve got a native Microsoft Teams Rooms setup designed for larger boardrooms rather than stretched small-room hardware. What the MVC S80 Actually Includes
The current Yealink MVC S80-C5U isn’t a single appliance. It’s a room system made from separate components, which is exactly what you want once the room gets large enough that camera position, touch control, computing and audio should be designed independently.
SmartVision 80 — the room camera. Its 3+1-eye architecture combines panoramic and telephoto views with a motorised PTZ camera offering 20x optical zoom. That gives the system both room awareness and the ability to bring a distant speaker into a useful close view.
MCore 4 — the Windows meeting-room computer. The current configuration uses an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor, 16GB DDR5 memory and 256GB storage. Microsoft Teams Rooms runs directly on this device, so staff don’t need to bring a laptop just to start the room.
MTouch Plus — the 11.6-inch Full HD controller that sits on the meeting table or can be wall-mounted. Users see the room calendar, join scheduled Teams meetings, control calls and handle content sharing from the controller rather than standing beside the display.
RoomSensor — included for occupancy and environmental sensing. It monitors room presence together with temperature, humidity and ambient light, giving facilities and IT teams another layer of room data beyond whether a Teams call is active.
One ordering detail that matters
The standard MVC S80-C5U base configuration does not include a dedicated room microphone and speaker system. That’s not a mistake. Large rooms need audio chosen around the table shape, ceiling height, seating distance and acoustic treatment. We specify tabletop or ceiling audio separately rather than forcing the same microphone layout into every room.
Why the SmartVision 80 Uses More Than One Camera
A large meeting room creates two conflicting camera jobs. One lens needs to understand the whole room — who is present, where people are sitting and which side of the table is active. Another needs enough reach to make a person at the far end look like a participant rather than background scenery.
SmartVision 80 separates those jobs. Its multi-eye system keeps a broad view of the room while the PTZ camera handles tighter framing and long-distance detail. The optical zoom is the important part. Digital zoom simply crops pixels from an existing image. The S80’s dedicated PTZ camera uses up to 20x optical zoom, so the camera can physically change focal length before the image is captured.
IntelliFocus
When several people are speaking around a long table, IntelliFocus can present tighter views of active participants rather than forcing remote attendees to watch one wide room image. That’s useful in executive rooms where the important part of the call is facial expression, not seeing every empty chair.
Presenter Tracking
A presenter can move near the display or along the front of the room without somebody manually steering the camera. In Dubai training rooms and larger management spaces, that matters when a meeting changes from seated discussion to somebody standing beside a dashboard or presentation screen.
Video Fence
Video Fence lets the camera concentrate on the meeting zone rather than every moving person visible through the glass. That’s a practical feature in DMCC, DIFC and JLT offices where a conference room may have clear partitions facing a corridor or open work area.
Other supported camera functions include Auto Framing, Speaker Tracking and Picture-in-Picture. The point isn’t to turn every feature on at once. During installation we configure the camera behaviour around how the room is actually used. A formal boardroom may need restrained speaker framing. A training space may benefit more from Presenter Tracking. Different room. Different setup.
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows — Not a Laptop on the Table
The MVC S80 runs Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows through the MCore 4. That distinction matters in shared meeting rooms. A normal USB camera installation still depends on somebody entering with a laptop, finding the right cable, selecting the correct camera, changing the microphone and putting the call on the display. It works. Until five different departments use the same room every day.
With the MVC S80, the room itself is the Teams endpoint. Scheduled meetings appear on the MTouch Plus. Staff walk in, tap the meeting and join. The room account, camera and display configuration stay where they belong — on the room system.

Large-Room Audio — Don’t Choose It From a Product Photo
This is where many large-room projects go wrong. Camera coverage is easy to see. Audio coverage isn’t. A room can look perfect on screen while the person at the far end sounds distant, the ceiling throws reverberation back into the microphones, or the air-conditioning system sits directly above the main talking position.
That’s why the MVC S80 is normally paired with room audio selected for the actual space. Yealink deployment designs support tabletop microphones as well as ceiling-audio layouts. A traditional rectangular boardroom may suit wired tabletop microphones. A premium executive room with a clean table and concealed cabling may be better designed around ceiling microphones and ceiling speakers.
We treat those as part of the same installation rather than as random accessories added after delivery. Ceiling height, table length, wall finish and HVAC position are checked before specifying the microphones. For dedicated audio options, the S80 can be planned alongside Yealink’s room audio and microphone systems.
Which Room Size Fits the MVC S80?
For a normal rectangular conference-room layout, the MVC S80 belongs in the large-room tier. Around 12 to 20 people is the practical starting point for the standard design, particularly where the table length makes optical camera reach important. More specialised layouts can go beyond that, but once you’re designing for 20 to 30 people, microphone placement, ceiling audio and display positioning have to be engineered as a room rather than chosen from a box.

The S80 isn’t automatically better because the room is expensive
If your boardroom has only 6 or 8 seats and everybody sits within a few metres of the display, the MVC S80 is usually more camera than you need. Its 20x optical PTZ reach earns its place when the room is genuinely long, seating is spread out, or presenters move around the front of the room. The MVC S80 is a Microsoft Teams Rooms system first. That’s the native room experience: room calendar, one-touch meeting join, Teams controls and central administration without relying on a user’s laptop.
For visitors who arrive with another meeting platform, the room can be planned with Yealink’s BYOD accessories so the guest laptop uses the installed room camera, audio and display. We treat that as a separate workflow from the native Teams Room and configure both during commissioning. That matters in UAE offices where your internal meetings may be on Teams while clients arrive with Zoom, Webex or Google Meet invitations.
BYOD and Content Sharing — When the Visitor Isn’t on Teams
Your internal meetings may run on Microsoft Teams. The client walking into your DIFC boardroom might send a Zoom link. A consultant could arrive with Webex. Another guest has Google Meet open on a MacBook. That doesn’t mean the room should fall back to a laptop webcam.
The MVC S80 can be designed with Yealink BYOD hardware so a guest laptop takes control of the installed room camera, selected audio system and displays. The laptop runs the meeting application. The room provides the professional AV hardware. For rooms where guest meetings happen every week, we normally plan this at the same time as the Teams deployment rather than adding another cable after handover.
PA20 for guest-room workflows
Yealink room designs pair the MVC platform with the PA20 where wireless BYOD is required. That gives visiting users a cleaner route into the installed room hardware without rebuilding the Teams Room every time somebody arrives with another meeting platform.
For presentation-only use, the MTouch Plus supports wired content input, and wireless presentation can be added where the room brief requires it. We also stock Yealink wireless presentation and BYOD equipment for meeting spaces where cable-free guest access is part of the design.
The important part is deciding whether you need simple screen sharing or full BYOD. They aren’t the same thing. Screen sharing puts a laptop image on the display. Full BYOD allows that laptop to use the installed camera and audio hardware for its own call. We confirm which workflow the room needs before specifying the accessories.
Does the MVC S80 Connect to a Dubai PABX?
The MVC S80 should not be treated like a SIP desk phone or a standalone video endpoint that registers directly to a Grandstream, Yeastar or 3CX extension. Its native calling environment is Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows.
If your company already uses Microsoft Teams Phone, Operator Connect or Direct Routing, PSTN calling can be presented to the room through the Microsoft Teams environment according to your tenant and licensing configuration. That’s the correct integration route. We don’t register the S80 directly to an Etisalat or du SIP account and pretend it’s an IP phone.
For UAE companies running a separate office PABX alongside Microsoft 365, we check the existing telephony design before installation. The Teams Room can remain the boardroom meeting system while desk-phone and PSTN traffic stays on the company PBX. If required, we can also supply matching Yealink IP phones for the voice side of the project.

A Better Fit for Executive and Large Teams Rooms
The S80 makes most sense where meetings involve senior management, regional teams, client presentations or larger groups that need better camera reach than an all-in-one bar can provide. Think 14-seat finance room in DIFC. Twenty-person regional review room in Business Bay. A training space where the presenter leaves the table and walks beside a screen.
Legal and financial offices get another benefit from the separate room architecture: the camera, compute unit, controller and audio don’t all have to sit in one physical position. That gives the installer more freedom when the table is unusually long, the display is recessed into joinery, or the room has glass on three sides.
Education, healthcare administration, engineering firms and multi-site corporate offices use the same logic. Once the meeting room becomes an operational space rather than an occasional call room, predictable one-touch access and consistent camera coverage matter more than having the smallest possible device mounted under the display.

Is the MVC S80 too much for our 8-person boardroom?
Usually, yes. The S80 earns its place in longer rooms where the SmartVision 80’s 20x optical PTZ camera can cover speakers sitting well beyond the front of the table. For an 8-person room with a shorter table, an S40 or S50-class Teams Room may be a cleaner fit.
Does the MVC S80 include microphones and speakers in the standard package?
The current MVC S80-C5U base configuration does not include a dedicated room audio system. Microphones and speakers are selected separately according to table length, ceiling height, seating and room acoustics. That lets us use tabletop audio in a conventional boardroom or ceiling audio where the room design calls for a clean table.
Can we use Zoom or Google Meet in an MVC S80 room?
The MVC S80 is a native Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows system. For meetings hosted on another platform, the room can be designed with BYOD hardware so a visitor’s laptop runs Zoom, Google Meet, Webex or another application while using the installed room camera, audio and displays.
Can the MVC S80 connect directly to our Etisalat or du PABX line?
Not as a normal SIP extension. PSTN calling is handled through the Microsoft Teams telephony environment when Teams Phone, Operator Connect or Direct Routing is configured for the organisation. Existing office PABX services can continue separately for desk phones and other voice endpoints.
