Why the MVC S50 Uses Three Cameras

A single ultra-wide camera solves one problem and creates another. It gets the whole table into frame, but people sitting farther away lose facial detail. Digital cropping helps only until the source image starts looking soft.

The A50 takes a different approach. One wide-angle camera handles the full room view while two telephoto cameras capture tighter views. That gives the system more useful image data when Teams needs to frame speakers or divide attention between several people around the table. For a 10, 12 or 14-seat room, that matters more than simply quoting a wide field-of-view number.

The MCore 4 Is the Part Users Never See

The camera gets attention because it sits above the display. The MCore 4 does the less visible work behind the room. It is the Windows compute unit that runs the Microsoft Teams Rooms environment and connects the camera, controller and displays into one room system.

Inside is an Intel Core Ultra 5 platform with 16GB DDR5 memory and a 256GB SSD. The integrated NPU is rated at 34 TOPS. Three HDMI outputs are available for room-display layouts, and the unit also provides HDMI input for wired content sharing plus four USB 3.0 connections.

That three-display capability is worth noting in larger rooms. One display can show remote participants while another carries shared content, with a third output available for room designs that need it. For a main conference room in DMCC or an executive space in Abu Dhabi, this gives the integrator more room to design around the table rather than forcing every deployment into a single-screen layout.

MTouch Plus — One CAT5e Run to the Table

The MTouch Plus is an 11.6-inch, 1920 × 1080 room controller. It stays on the table and becomes the daily interface for joining meetings, checking the room calendar and controlling the Teams Room.

The useful installation detail is the cable run. The controller connects back to the room system through CAT5e rather than needing a bundle of separate USB and power cables stretched under the table. In a finished DIFC office with marble flooring, glass partitions and no appetite for visible cable trunking, that makes a difference.

This is also why the MVC S50 belongs in the Yealink Microsoft Teams room range rather than being treated as a webcam kit. The camera, Windows compute and touch controller operate as a permanent room system with a shared Teams Rooms account.

Audio Coverage for a Real Boardroom

The A50 contains 16 MEMS microphones and four 5W speakers. Yealink positions the system with an 8-to-10-metre voice pickup range, giving it enough built-in audio coverage for many medium and larger rectangular rooms without automatically adding tabletop microphones.

That doesn’t mean every 10-metre room should be treated the same. A quiet carpeted meeting room with acoustic ceiling tiles behaves very differently from a glass box with hard flooring and an HVAC vent directly above the table. Pickup distance is only one part of the design.

For Dubai offices, we look at table length, ceiling height, glass area and where the AC diffusers sit before deciding whether the built-in audio is enough. The goal is simple: voices from the far seats need to sound like people, not distant room noise.

For IT teams managing several rooms, the MVC S50 can be monitored through Microsoft Teams management tools and Yealink’s management platform. That gives administrators a way to check device status, push scheduled management tasks and respond to room alarms without walking from floor to floor.

This becomes more important once a company has five, ten or twenty rooms across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The problem stops being “does this camera work?” and becomes “which room has an issue before the 9AM meeting starts?”

Content Sharing and BYOD in a Teams Room

The MVC S50 is meant to stay signed into a Microsoft Teams Rooms account, but not every visitor walking into your boardroom will arrive with a Teams meeting. A consultant may send a Zoom link. A customer might use Webex. Someone from another company may simply want to put a laptop presentation onto the room screens.

For normal Teams meetings, the room runs from MCore 4 and the MTouch Plus controller. Staff tap the scheduled meeting on the 11.6-inch screen and join without making a laptop the centre of the room. Wired presentation content can enter through the MCore 4 HDMI input, while the system can drive up to three displays through its HDMI outputs.

Where a project needs wireless presentation or laptop-led meetings, we add the appropriate Yealink sharing hardware from the Wireless Presentation & BYOD range. We confirm the required workflow before quoting because screen sharing and full BYOD are not the same requirement. If a guest only needs to put slides on the screen, that is one job. If the guest’s laptop also needs to use the room camera and audio for another meeting platform, that is a different job.

What About Etisalat, du and the Office PABX?

The MVC S50 is first of all a Microsoft Teams Room, not a replacement for your office PBX. That distinction matters. Native Teams meetings run through the Microsoft Teams Rooms account configured on the system, while normal office telephone calling still depends on the telephony setup your company uses.

If the office uses Microsoft Teams Phone with an approved PSTN connection, normal external calling can be handled through the Teams environment according to the customer’s Microsoft and carrier configuration. Where the business still runs a separate 3CX, Grandstream, Yeastar, Avaya or other SIP-based PABX, that system remains a separate telephony layer unless the customer’s Teams architecture has been designed to connect the two.

For Etisalat/e& or du customers, we check how the existing voice service is delivered before promising integration. Some sites have SIP trunks into a local PBX. Others use Microsoft Teams calling services. Different job. We don’t label every Teams Room as a direct SIP endpoint unless the actual project design supports it.

What Comes With the MVC S50

The current MVC S50 configuration is built around four main pieces: the A50 camera and audio unit, MCore 4 Windows room computer, MTouch Plus 11.6-inch controller and RoomSensor. Together they cover video, room audio, Teams compute, table control and occupancy/environment sensing.

Cabling and mounting requirements depend on the actual room. A boardroom with one display mounted directly behind the A50 is a very different installation from a three-display room with equipment hidden inside joinery. We confirm the display count, cable lengths, floor-box location and network point before installation.

Where We Install the MVC S50 in the UAE

The MVC S50 fits the meeting room that has grown beyond a small-room video bar but does not need the long-distance PTZ reach of the MVC S80. Think 10-to-16-seat management rooms, project rooms and main conference rooms where people sit around one conventional rectangular table.

A DMCC office with glass walls needs camera boundaries checked so corridor movement does not become part of the call. In a Business Bay tower, the bigger issue may be HVAC noise directly above the table. DIFC rooms often need neat cable routes because everything under the table is visible through glass and polished flooring. Same product. Different room work.

A Typical S50 Project: Regional Management Room

A regional office has 12 seats around one table and two 65-inch displays on the wall. The Teams calendar is busy from 9AM. External consultants join several calls each week. The room has glass on two sides and the air-conditioning diffuser sits almost directly above the centre seats.

That is the kind of room where we first check whether the A50’s built-in microphone coverage is enough, then position the camera so its three-camera system sees both ends of the table without including the corridor outside. MTouch Plus goes where everyone can reach it without moving a laptop. RoomSensor goes where it can read the occupied space rather than the doorway.
