PSTN Has Different Rules from SIP

A CPN10 does not turn an analogue line into a full SIP service. The call still travels over PSTN, so the feature set is determined by the analogue line and by what the connected Yealink phone supports in PSTN mode. Functions you are used to on SIP — such as call transfer, forwarding or DND — may not behave the same way or may be unavailable on a PSTN call.

That is why we ask what the line is actually used for. If the requirement is simply “keep this old number active in the conference room”, the CPN10 can be a neat solution. If the business needs advanced routing, hunt groups, detailed call control or several analogue trunks across multiple extensions, the analogue service normally belongs at the PABX or gateway level instead.

Using the CPN10 with a Dubai PABX

The CPN10 sits at the telephone endpoint, so it is different from putting analogue lines into the office PABX. If your meeting room has one PSTN line and one compatible Yealink phone, the CPN10 can be the simpler route. The phone keeps its SIP accounts and gains access to the analogue line through the adapter.

If the office has 4, 8 or 16 analogue lines that need to reach many extensions, those lines normally belong on a PBX interface or VoIP gateway instead. That arrangement gives the telephone system control over routing, groups and extensions rather than tying one line to one endpoint. Different job.

For Etisalat or du environments, we first check what has actually been delivered to the office. An RJ11 analogue line and a SIP trunk are not the same thing. When We Would Specify the CPN10

A common case is a boardroom in JLT or Business Bay where the company already has a Yealink conference phone on the IP network, but an older published telephone number still arrives on copper.
